GOP Solution: Stick to Values, Pick Better Candidates

Governor Romney and Paul Ryan were the finest candidates i have seen in my lifetime. "This is the way the world ends . . . not in a bang but a whimper."

Thank you Ann for your comment. I am so sick of everyone blaming Romney for losing. We just found out that there are too many people who would rather have stuff from Obama than a good President who could have helped our country.

Reading T S Eliot has no improved your IQ. Those two were an embarrassment. The rest of the Western world thought they were twits.

"So this is how democracy dies ...." What is that from? I know this quote

Vicii- It's from Eliot's "The Hollow Men" which is what all these politicians remind me of.

Amen, Ann. I think we will all look back at 2012 and realize we collectively missed a great opportunity.

You will look back at 2012 as the last chance you had to actually win the presidency.

Jack, this would be laughable if it weren't so indicative of the young, uneducated political mind. I know you think history started in about 2008, but if there is anything I can say for sure is that the Republicans will be back - probably in a very large way -very soon. You see, it isn't people who define the party, it is principles.
Jack2894 Wrote: Nov 09, 2012 4:54 PM
Dont' be a fool. I have been around, no doubt, for longer than you have and have been a serious reader of history for at least 30 years. I can tell the difference between oscillations, so to speak, and long term trends. As I have written elsewhere, if the conservative movement fails to confront the racism in the party, it will not win a presidential election for at least 20 years. Barring a catastrophe of some sort. The Party has alienated the Hispanic vote (-40%), the black vote (-88%), the asian vote (-40%) and the female vote (-10%). WHat's your path to victory?
RepubRob2 Wrote: Nov 09, 2012 5:01 PM
No way you are older than 25, Jack. The Republican Party has NEVER gotten anything close to a majority of either the black or Hispanic vote, and they've had a few successful presidents by any measure. You dismiss it, but the 2012 vote has many parallels to 1994, except that 2012 was nothing resembling the rout Dems experienced 18 years ago. The ideals Republicans stand for are timeless, and should not be altered in the face of a setback, any more than the Catholic Church should alter its stance on abortion simply to be more marketable.

@ Jack@$$: All we really have to do is wait for the Democrats to drive this country into the ground by taxing our companies right into the open arms of business friendly nations. As the jobs continue to vanish and the sources of welfare funding wither, I wonder how long it will take for the moocher party to devour itself?

The only party that still espouses racism is that of the democrats - the only reason Robert Byrd, the lifelong KKK member and democrat senator, is no longer in office is because he's dead! Racism is what happens when blacks vote for a man because of the color of his skin.

These are days of hindsight and second-guessing for Republicans, which is human nature after a trauma like this election loss.

There are million “why” theories out there, from the Hurricane Sandy effect to pernicious media bias. Wringing our hands over those factors gets us nowhere.

We can’t stop hurricanes, and media bias is always there. Reagan and Bush 43 won twice against waves of poisonous bias, so that is not an insurmountable obstacle.

What Republicans need is a slate of candidates that can energize the base while expanding the appeal of a conservative message.

Easy...
