Arizona law currently states,and I'm paraphrasing here: If a law officer suspects that someone who is being questioned for some other purpose, they CAN investigate further.

The new law says: If a law officer suspects that someone who is being questioned for some other purpose, they MUST investigate further.

Now, even if we assume that the ridiculous, unsubstantiated charge of racism is true, this law does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to change that! If the cop just wanted to be a jerk and go around harassing latinos and investigating whether or not they're illegal, THEN THEY WOULD ALREADY BE DOING THAT. It's already perfectly legal and NOBODY CARES.
