In 2008, Obama, at the height of his charisma and at the height of the mindless hysteria and hype among the masses with his simpy 'hope and change' slogan, barely managed to eke out a 53% popular vote majority over a lack luster, un-inspiring RINO candidate (who was saddled with the handicap of trying to ride the 'coat-tails' of the most un-popular GOP POTUS in 100 years). Flash forward to 2012: the 'hope and change' mantra has GONE WITH THE WIND. Now, Obama has his OWN dismal record of FAILURE to attempt to defend, and has, apparently, ZERO ability to articulate a believable 'vision' of where he wants to take this country, and how he intends to get there. The folks ain't buying it this time.

Can there be political bubbles like financial bubbles?

Financial bubbles, inflated by hopes and dreams, burst when reality negates any possibility that those hopes and dreams will be realized. At that point, sky high stock or bond or real estate prices come crashing down to earth.

Can the same thing happen in politics? Can a skilled politician, who has become popular with soaring rhetoric and promises, deflate when it starts becoming clear that he is not going to deliver?

Of course, I am thinking about our president.
