God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son..... that's how much He loves us. There are also some things that Jesus HATES...... He hates sin (because He knows the destruction sin brings into a human life), He hates the works of the devil (which Scripture tells us He came to DESTROY); He hates those who add to His word, or take away from His word, or mix righteousness and sin (such as the Nicolaitanes; Jesus specifically said He HATED their 'deeds' and 'doctrine'). Jesus never called His followers to LOVE "SIN"; He called them to 'expose' the works of darkness and present the Gospel to sinners.

We gotta stop abusing each other and creating more abuse and less love.

You are stuck on the single approach of warning and scarring and reasoning a person into compliance...God allows us to learn the easy way, the hard way, or not at all AND I will do whatever I can to help anyone no matter because they will suffer and be victims. Once again, God's parenting style is much more wise and effective than most of us have experienced with our parents and culture. Thank you God for being so understanding and merciful and forgiving.

once again, I have no problem with the idea of loving sinners. That's what we are called to do. Jesus doesn't call us to condemn people, but to love them. But He doesnt tell us to love, excuse, or condone sin. The issue in this discussion thread, and among multitudes today, is that God loves us, not matter what our hang-up or sin happens to be. It's true, His love is unconditional ("God so loved the world..") in one sense, but entirely conditional in another ('whosoever believeth in Him should not perish'). True 'belief' is much more than intellectual 'assent'; it is taking our cross daily, dying to our selves and our sin, and following Jesus. That is where so MANY are MISSING IT today!

God is proved right by obeying and by not obeying and the principle of "Reap what you sow". I don't have to get heavy handed about anything. I need to love and help people who are hurting because of sin, sin, sin - including the sin of well-meaning Christians who know no better. Jesus actually has a better parenting style than you or most people.

Your mealy-mouthed misinterpretation of the Gospel will not save YOU, or those who might be deceived into thinking you know what you're talking about, rmccarthy...

Chris Culliver, the San Francisco 49ers player who badmouthed gays last week, will soon begin LGBT sensitivity training. When do the public figures who badmouth conservative Christians begin their sensitivity training?

Back in 2007, basketball player Tim Hardaway received an avalanche of criticism when he said during a radio interview, “I hate gay people. I don’t like to be around gay people. I’m homophobic. I don’t like it. It shouldn’t be in the world for that or in the United States for it. So yeah, I don’t like it.” He too went to sensitivity training and has since emerged as a...
