In response to:

The Malicious Mangling of the Virgin Mary

Christ's mother Mary was a sinful human being who found extraordinary grace and favor in the eyes of the Heavenly Father, and was chosen, above all women on this planet, to be the mother of the Savior of the world. Mary was not (and is not) a 'demi-god', a 'co-redeemer', or someone who acts as an intercessor to the Father. "There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the Man, Christ Jesus." 1st Timothy 2:5. Mary was God's highly-favored 'vessel' to bring God's salvation, in human flesh, into this world. She, like us, was a sinner in need of God's wondrous salvation thru her Son, Jesus. To smear and twist the Bible's account, as Toibon has, of WHO Mary was, is despicable. But it is equally wrong to go the 'other direction' (more)

Dave: To assert, as you did, that Mary was "born without original sin" denies the truth of Scripture-" ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23), and makes Mary a GOD, not in need of the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ for sinners! It denies Scripture, and makes a mockery of the price Christ paid for the sins of ALL humanity, INCLUDING MARY. Those who 'exalt' Mary to this position of worship and honor are worshipping a FALSE GOD, and will come under the judgment of God! ONLY CHRIST was (and is) sinless! God, in His mercy, sent His Son to identify and atone for the sins of the world thru the blood of His precious Son.... even to the point of 'melding' with sinful human flesh in the womb of a chosen Jewish maiden

One correction on your words. Yes she was chosen to be the mother of the Savior of the World. But she was born without original sin, unlike the rest of us. How could she carry our Savior for nine months in her womb if she had any sin on her? She was the new ark of the covenant. Otherwise, I agree 100% with what you said.

(continued) and twist and ignore the Scriptures, and attempt to portray Mary as a 'god', or a 'co-redeemer', or 'the mother of us all', which she certainly is NOT. Romans tells us "ALL have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God"- that INCLUDES Mary...a sinner saved by the wondrous grace of Jesus, as are ALL who come to God on the basis of HIS BLOOD and virtue.

how can a sinner be "full of grace" as the angel Gabriel calls Mary?

why could almighty God not preserve Mary's soul from sin so that He would be born of a virgin "full of grace"? a virgin whose soul was unstained by sin?
Andy544 Wrote: Nov 16, 2012 11:49 AM
eddie...listen CAREFULLY..... GRACE is God's FREE, UN-MERITED GIFT ("Charis") that He bestows on people. GRACE and TRUTH came by JESUS CHRIST. God searched the world over, and found a JEWISH girl who was WORTHY to receive HIS GRACE, and be the vessel to bring God's salvation into the world. Mary was BORN IN SIN, like the rest of us. Mary, like the rest of us, needed God's salvation thru the GRACE of her Son Jesus to receive God's salvation. WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE, THRU FAITH..NOT OF OURSELVES, IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD, NOT WORKS, LEST ANY BOAST

please read the BIBLE, Eddie, and stop trusting in your church's 'traditions' and false 'doctrine' to save you. If you trust in ANYTHING or ANYBODY other than the blood of JESUS CHRIST and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS to SAVE you, you are worshipping a FALSE GOD ( aka an IDOL) to save you; God calls that 'idolatry' and He hates that. Idolators will go into the Lake of Fire.

where in the bible does it say the Mary was a sinner like us?
Cleombrotus2011 Wrote: Nov 16, 2012 11:26 AM
Mary claimed that she needed a Savior. De facto admission of sin.
Illbay Wrote: Nov 16, 2012 11:35 AM
You need to understand that Catholics - all if not most - believe that Mary was exempt from the wages of sin.

Arguing with them about it is pointless.
eddie again Wrote: Nov 16, 2012 11:37 AM
de facto, Mary needed to be preserved from sin like all of the rest of us.

not de facto, that Mary sinned in her own life.

Eddie, as I noted in the SECOND 'half' of my post, the Bible clearly says in Romans Chapter 3 that 'ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God' (Romans 3:23), and "there is NONE righteous; no, not one" (Romans 3:10). Mary, a highly virtuous woman chosen by God to be the mother of the Saviour of the world was, nonetheless, BORN in the sinful state of ALL of lost humanity, and was redeemed and saved by virtue of the blood sacrifice of her SON--- NOT on the basis of HER merit or righteousness! ALL have sinned... SIN is the natural state of being ALL humanity is born into... ONLY the BLOOD of Jesus SAVES from sin!
A Christian can be crushed gazing at the picture of Mary standing at the foot of the cross, watching her beloved son suffocate and die. But in that vision, she stands there for hours, patiently enduring her suffering. For two millennia, she has been a role model for Christians, a woman who practiced obedience in the most difficult of human circumstances, with fervent hope for what this sacrifice will offer all mankind as it struggles with sin.

This is why it seems so hard to reflect that vision of patience when black-hearted "artists" practice character assassination on the Blessed Virgin...
