your reading skills seem to be lacking, General Washington. I never said anything about "forcing" Obama to sign a CR that defunded Obamacare. I simply said Congress needs to submit to Obama a CR that specifically DE-FUNDS Obamacare. At that point, Obama will have a choice to make. He can either sign the CR that includes the de-funded Obamacare section, or he can shut down the Federal government. It will be Obama's CHOICE, and Obama's RESPONSIBILITY. How about dealing with what I actually SAID, General Washington?

The "elephant in the room" as you put it, Hank is a compromised, appeasing GOP establishment leadership in Congress that lacks the intestinal fortitude to go after Obamacare the way it is constitutionally-empowered to do: by defunding it!

So, Henry VIII, what you are really saying here is that the GOP serves the Lying Mainstream Media, and values its opinions higher than the expressed will of the American people... which is to tow Obamacare 3 miles out to sea, and sink it with Naval gunfire!

Dear General Washington: I wouldn't expect Obama to sign the CR defunding Obamacare. At that point, Chairman Obama would have two choices: either meekly accept the CR (including the portion of which defunded Obamacare...not likely to happen, or, Chairman Obama could reject the ENTIRE CR, thus defunding and shutting down the government. The choice would be HIS and the RESPONSIBILITY for the choice HIS also.. do you get it now? The above scenario requires some balls and courage on the part of the GOP leadership, btw....

Do you know when John Boehner and the establishment GOP will 'man up' and begin the defunding process of Obamacare? (it's my guess hell will freeze over first)

?Historically, Congress has used the “power of the purse” broadly to make key policy statements through defunding. For instance, in 1982 Congress acted to block the Reagan Administration’s policy for supporting the Contra forces opposing the Nicaraguan government. As part of Public Law 97-377, Congress prohibited both the Department of Defense and the Central Intelligence Agency from furnishing military equipment and support to any group for the purpose of overthrowing the Nicaraguan government. Even though defense spending is not funded through mandatory appropriations, the example demonstrates that defunding has been—and remains—a powerful tool Congress can use to affect public policy. ?Given the examples above, and numerous others, it is beyond dispute that Congress can use its power of the purse to defund Obamacare—both its mandatory and discretionary spending—in appropriations legislation this fall. The lone remaining question is whether Congress can summon the political will to do so. Heritage Foundation - Factsheet #126 Health Care

The reason WHY the American people gave the Republicans control of the House of Representatives in 2010, and an overwhelming electoral victory in 2014, was to CONFRONT Barak H. Obama and his lawless, un-Constitutional regime. This, the GOP (led by Mitch McConnell and John Boehner) has consistently FAILED to do. All the American people continue to hear from the GOP congressional leadership is EXCUSES, EXCUSES and endless evasions WHY they 'cannot'. One poster below (who humbly dubs himself "George Washington") claims the GOP House, which controls the purse strings for the government, CANNOT defund Obamacare. BALONEY. The House of Representatives has used the power of the purse NUMEROUS times in the past to defund outrageous or unpopular programs. The control of the lower chamber CHANGED in 2010, in response to just such a program, Obamacare. What has Boehner and company done to overturn or impede Obamacare since? Nothing of substance, to be sure (other than to declare, sonorously, "Obamacare is the law of the land") We didn't elect you to be Obama's parrot, Mr. Boehner. We elected you and the Republican majority to attack, harass, and overturn Obamacare at EVERY turn; and this you have not only FAILED to do, you have have demonstrated you are UNWILLING to do it. Mouthing meaningless ineffectual protests and excuses is not what the American people elected you to do.
