Uh, ok. Aura has a strong understanding of the different roles of the national government and of the state governments. Aura just doesn't think it's particularly unconstitutional for the national government to mandate a health insurance purchase. It mandates other purchases, and no one seems to object. And those purchases are for one's own good (such as airbags in cars, or laminated windshields). Having health insurance protects others from having to pay for YOUR health care, which is even more important than protecting you from yourself!

Ever heard of Dahlia Lithwick? No? Don’t feel bad. I hadn’t either until I read her piece of … something or other … on Slate about the Supreme Court hearing this week on Obamacare.

A quick Google search turned up her Wikipedia entry, which tells me she’s a Canadian and contributing editor at Newsweek and senior editor at Slate. In other words, a committed leftist.
