"Violence never solves anything?" Hilarious statement. The history of the world, if you read it closely, is VIOLENCE, start to finish... Just imagine where we would be today if the leaders of the Western Allies in 1942 had taken that attitude? The current world order, as we know it, is going to end in a place called Armaggedon (the valley of Meggido in Northern Israel) in the not too distant future. Armaggedon will be the most VIOLENT (and one-sided) battle in the history of the world. Violence actually solves MANY things!

Andy....in the greater scheme of things, VIOLENCE doesn't solve anything. Why? Because it perpetuates a point of view that based in fear of the other and the unknown. The 'cliche' was not meant to imply that the Western Allied leadership should not have taken action; that's not seeing the forest for the trees. Your conclusion is pure NONSENSE and based on current, over-the-top drivel by Christian fundamentalists. The fact that you focus more on the violent aspect really makes my point about how it is perpetuated in the collective consciousness. The message of Jesus was to be in a state of peace and continue to work with community from that place in your heart. So, NO, violence does not solve anything...

thanks for your thoughtful reply. peaceman. Actually, the message of Jesus was: "Repent, the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Jesus, Who is the King of that Kingdom, offers PEACE with God for ALL who put their faith in Him. Apart from Jesus, there is NO peace. In fact, Jesus told His disciples, "think not that I came to bring peace upon the earth; I came not to bring peace but a sword.." The 'sword' of division separates those who follow Jesus from those who do not. I repeat: apart from Jesus there is no real peace; just a phony, man-made 'truce' with the devil and his kingdom..

"And every knee shall bow". :)
A few years ago I was at David Horowitz’s Restoration Weekend in Palm Beach, Florida.  As a friend and I settled in for the next panel on Islamofascism, I decided to make it a little more interesting.  I said to my friend, “I’ll bet you $5 that Jonah Goldberg mentions The Simpsons during his...
