Good essay. Not to suggest that I had not figured out a while back that California is such a place, and it's getting worse. Think of it this way...we have a socialist in the governor's mansion, a large majority of socialists in the state senate and assembly, and a majority of the population is socialist, seeing as how they overwhelmingly voted for Obama. I am an intelligent (I think), well educated person who has always paid my own way and am proud of that. I do not feel comfortable rubbing elbows with the people here any more, so I am leaving the country. I am going to Texas where I grew up. Unlike California, it is a "free state".
I am productive and I am in the process of leaving California for Texas. I have had it with this place. Like a 747 running out of fuel is heading for the ground at a high rate of speed. The explosion should be interesting.

You are correct. The second amendment is there for a reason. If you count up the fatalities caused by guns in history (excluding wars), you will find that the overwhelming majority of those were people killed by their own government. Think Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, Mao, Mussolini etc. It appears to me that the most dangerous group as far as guns are concerned is government. Trust Obama? Me neither.

I think that the most rational short term solution to the school violence issue is to have trained armed security in schools. As a long term solution, I think that a large part of the American people have lost the spirit that was present when this country was established, that of individual freedom and the responsibility that must be a part of that. The behavior of some politicians have for some time been echoing the drumbeat of "money for nothing" (my apologies to Mark Knopfler), and a lot of people have been gullible enough to believe it. As long as this continues to happen, large groups of people will follow the Pied Piper into the sea to their doom. I am moving out of the country to Texas.
O'Reilly has some good common sense ideas. Some not so common sense. People are like that. The point I want to make is don't accept everything you hear at face value. Make your own conclusions based on your intelligence and experience. If you have any. I am suspicious at times. and I hear folks speaking and writing about things about which they have no knowledge. It would be best for all of us for people to either become informed or keep silent. Looks like this is one of those times that the spin is out of control and a crash is imminent. Ed Walter

Good article. And, of course, it has nothing to do with our present situation. Nevertheless, it was so good that it might work in reality, so I will put it in my cranial database as a resource to consult as appropriate.
