Vote-Counting May Mean Nothing

Fair enough; you don't have to agree. Here are a few norms that I would like to see changed as well:

1. The rule against cutting into long lines. For example, when I go to BJ's to get my bulk stuff, I frequently find myself in the back of long lines of people who had the temerity to (a) but a lot of stuff and (b) get to the line before me. I refuse to "acquiesce to [their] vision" and will cut to the front of the line from this point forward. I hope it goes well.

2. The taboo against adultery. Now that one has taken many hits, especially since the sixties. I think my wife and children will understand if I decide to take up with another woman (or women!), after all they have such "concrete perceptions". Imagine the fun I'll...
Pelosi said just yesterday that "We feel very strong about where we are,” in terms of Democrats gaining enough votes to pass Obamacare. The count isn't there — most observers still say the Speaker has fallen short in gaining the requisite 216 "ayes." But if she's going forward with the vote on Sunday, there's got to be some measure of confidence that's motivating her. It would be bizarre for something of this importance to be a total bluff.
