1. The "Read the Bill" talking point is most definitely not "hollow". Our reps in D.C. have a job to do and one of them is to know what they are voting on. As a NYer, I just called Senator Gillibrand's office and asked if she read the bill. Her staffer told me that she read it "with her staff"...meaning that she is relying on her staff to help her. Nothing inherently wrong with that, it's just that there's a chance something will get lost in translation. Why we must have a 2,000+ page bill is beyond me.

2. Reid may very well have the votes, and I'm guessing he wants to puff his chest on the Sunday morning talkers. Regardless, there should be more time for Senators and constituents to absorb the bill.

3. We'll see what...
Reid just filed cloture on the motion to proceed with HR 3590, which is the bill that will eventually be the official health care reform legislation. The actual vote will be on Saturday night at 8pm.

This means three things:

1) Reid is flat-out ignoring the 72-hour window to "read the bill" that pretty much everyone and their mother has requested.

2) Reid is dropping a bill that will influence the health of every man, woman and child in America at 8PM on the weekend before Thanksgiving. Perhaps this is in response to the fact that over...
