It is true that it is fruitless to carp about it if you are a candidate, as it makes you seem bitter. However, the MSM must be called out for their bias time and again to ensure that the public is informed.

How is missile defense antagonistic? It is not weaponry; it is for defense.

Dude, you just don't get it. The low flow toilets are more prone to clogging and are much less efficient than the old ones, so any claimed water savings is dubious. You can call this "wingnut" all you want, but that doesn't make it any less serious. And I think you know I was referring to low flow toilets, and not toilets in general, in my last sentence. I'll write that off to jest on your part, and not stupidity.
James, To be sure, there is nothing wrong with promoting self-motivation. Silent reading isn't a terrible thing either. And if a parent chooses this type of school for their child, it is just that: their choice. Many people, though, question the value of such a loosey-goosey education as is described in the linked article, including dubious and hard-to-verify claims of success.
Hear, hear Alice. Only a select few -- and VERY few at that -- children can truly thrive in such an environment. The notion that school must only be about what interests the children is not a new one, and the unschooling movement has its adherents. I remember in ed school (I am a former teacher) reading the introduction to some progressive ed tome (the word "fire" or "fires" was in the title) in which the author gave voice to a bunch of students who, gosh darnit, just didn't like the fact that school didn't center around their specific interests and concerns. I remember picking it apart in a response piece, but I don't think I changed too many minds.

The Constitution states that the President is commander in chief of the armed forces, which allows him some leeway to command our forces absent a formal declaration of war. Whether you agree with the use of our armed forces is another story.

No, the conservative mantra, if anything, is "Please let me live my life as I see fit...as the Constitution intended."
Well, when people see the economic damage that will be done in the name of, say, controlling carbon emissions, I believe they will revolt in the same way they did against the health care "reform"...especially when they see what will happen to their utility bills. I remember Obama explaining that such bills will "necessarily skyrocket".
She didn't, of course. My point was that they hysteria will be even wilder with O'Donnell who actually did run for office.
