Yes. One comment on that, however, Mr. Olsen does not use the Hurricane which actually did damage to other areas than the mainland US (including the sinking of the replica ship HMS BOUNTY and the deaths of many in Haiti) in the same context. Please review his article, he does quote the teacher but does not correct him.
