If the unemployment rolls don't show an increase yet the employment rolls don't show an increase either Roy. Now some may have gone into retirement tis true but unlikely that all of those who dropped off the unemployment rolls did.

They are counted, that is where they get the # of people who have stopped looking. But they do not calculate that number into the official unemployment rate. But, when you add in them and the underemployed, the actual rate is higher.

You're missing the point. They're not being COUNTED!!! That means the unemployment rate drops.

Bureaucrat gubmint surveyors call X number of households asking those out of work if they are still looking, if the answer is "I'm no longer looking" a dropout is counted.

What a difference a few month makes.

Last month we were told by a fawning news media how great things were. The economy was a little engine that could.  And the declining unemployment rate was touted in headlines as significant progress toward economic recovery.
