The Price of Liberty, Part 6: Revival

A real Christian nation takes care of the poor and oppressed through universal health care and comprehensive immigration reform; acts to end war; and is tolerante of the beliefs of others as Jesus taught. Unfortunately many Evangelicals think being a Christian nation is about abortion, an aggressive, violent foreign policy, and intolerance. These Christians damage Christianity and the prospects for a real Christian nation as well meaning spiritual seekers turn from Christianity and all religion.

One measure of intelligence is your ability to put yourself in the position of another. We over threw Iran's democratically elected government to control their oil. We encourages Iraq to invade Iran and gave them satalitte data for their use of poisoniss gasses. We surround Iran on every side with warships and planes. We invaded Iraq when we chose to. If Iran had done all that to us--overthrown our government etc--and having nukes was the only way to defend ourselves, you would support our developing nukes to defend ourselves, would you not?

The chaos in the mideast is a direct result of Israel's oppression of the Palestinians and our imperialist actions such as overthrowing the democratically elected government in Iran and replacing it with the Shah so we could control their oil. Our actions feed the flame of the terrorists making us and the world less safe. When we stop our aggressive actions we will not need a shield, artificial construct that it is.

Com on Michelle. Everybody knows that Mitt Romney is Eddie Haskell. I was first told that a month ago from authoritative sources.

Is the Republican Party the Party of God?

The first Christian communities provided for the basic needs of every community member whether they had money or not. Money was held in common and allocated by the elders. Where did Jesus tell these communities not to do this? By the way slander (accusing me of a deceitful and decadent life) violates the 10 Commandments. You should repent, and you owe me an apology. Didn't the Apostles require Paul to bring money for the poor? Where is the face to face in that? Yes evangelicals are confused and generally not ready to follow Jesus' teachings.

Most evangelicals don't know what Jesus taught or find his teachings too difficult to live by, so they wander around the Old Testament finding snippets of scripture that they interpret to overrule Jesus in ways they can follow. These evangelicals are Bible Believers not Christians of course. Jesus' actual teachings are scriptural fact from the parables and the Sermon on the Mount. They are just a little tough for most evangelicals to follow.

Yes he did. He taught us to pray for the coming of the kingdom where divine will is done on earth as in heaven. Divine will is love as Jesus taught. Universal health care is an expression of love. Ending war is an expression of love. Tolerance is an expression of love. The government is us.

The democrats and progressives are the real party of God. They care for the poor, the hungry, the sick, immigrants and prisoners as Jesus taught in his Parable of Sheep and Goats. They tend to be peacemakers and broadly tolerant as Jesus taught in his Sermon on the Mount. Republicans wrap themselves in God in the public square trying to buy votes from confused evangelicals. But Jesus didn't say a word about abortion, Israel, or homosexuality. These were not his issues. Republicans use these issues to cover the fact that they work against the actual teachings of Jesus.

Daniel Pipes was part of the Project for a new American Century that led us to invade Iraq. The blood of many thousands is on his hands to say nothing of the drain on US treasury and reputation. Now he beats the drum for war again. By electing Romney, we will all be sacrificing our children's lives at the feet of the likes of Daniel Pipes.

Are you kidding? Jesus was more hippy than Krishna even. Peace love, and women anointing him with oil.

Jesus changed the game from the right and wrong of the 10 Commandments to indiscriminate love. Universal health care is an expression of love. Comprehensive immigration reform is an expression of love. Ending war is an expression of love. The Parable of Sheep and Goats is operative. Turning Jesus away at the hospital door is not an expression of love.
