Here's a nice example of not allowing fact checkers to limit us in what we can say or imply. You refer to Akers as "one obscure congressman from Missouri." If that's what he was, he wouldn't have made much of a ripple in the news. I'm sure obscure members of Congress from both parties say strange things from time to time. But, in this case, this guy is running for the U.S. Senate as a Republican. The Senate. That's why he caught everyone's attention with his ignorant opinion.
