Government entities have a share of the responsibility - but it is a small one. Even among mortgage lenders, 3/4ths of the mortgages that defaulted were initiated by private lenders, not Freddie/Fannie. With respect to my main point, it is not demonizing an entire class of people to question why their salaries have gone from about 20 times that of the average workers to more than 200 times, and at the same time their marginal tax rates have dropped by a factor of three. Even if the wealthy of today were just as talented and hard-working as they work a generation ago (and I believe that they are), there is no basis for such a radical change.
