Chuck Todd: If Lincoln Were Dealing with These Republicans, We'd Still Have Slavery

Free Markets Free Men: it is sometimes amazing that conservatives, the guys who are supposed to defend our heritage, have such a little sense of it. Even though the People are much the same, institutions, such as political parties, change over the decades and generations. This is why we cannot credit TODAY's Republican Party, which is more a Dixiecratic Party, a Party of Rum, Romanism, and Rebellion, than the Whiggish Party of Abraham Lincoln. And if you doubt it, son, look at the Blue States, which voted for Lincoln, and the Red States, which cheered his assassin. Stop turning everyone's stomach with bragging about Old Abe. It only reflects your fundamental ignorance of the moral current that is our heritage.

Lincoln thought we are a Christian nation. Why would any liberal support him?

Political parties do change. That is why today's Democrat is more socialist than the Democrat of old. Perhaps they should be called Social Democrats.

You deny that? Then look at what they champion in legislation.

Democrats are much more pro-business, pro-market than they were fifty or sixty years ago. Did you ever read a speech by Truman? JFK? Those guys make Obama look like Ike. Again, you guys just do not know what the hell you are talking about.

Ridiculous.
Truman dropped two nuclear bombs.
Do you think obama would?
JFK wanted to REDUCE the top tax rate by 30%.
Do you think obama wants to reduce the top tax rate?
Fool troll.

Democrats pro-business. What a laugh. Is that myriad regulations have been imposed upon small businesses?

A.L.

We don't need to know what we are talking about if we read the Constitution. The words are too simple for a liberal to understand. Only dumb people like myself can understand the simple instructions written in cursive on a handful of pages. Such words are too simple for the undereducated and the overeducated.

P.S. I can read cursive writing.

Not his words, you must understand.  Just a "depressing" observation from a "very smart" White House aide:

Joe Klein -- last seen beclowning himself on Benghazi -- gets a big laugh at this line because it's so true, right?  Republicans are just the worst.  Lincoln would have never been able to handle this bunch of radicals.  Maybe this "very smart" White House source should go re-watch Lincoln, or re-read his history books.  Congressional Republicans were the ones who
