On most serious issues there is only a small degree of difference between progressives on the Right aka Republicans, and progressives on the Left aka Dems. Think about it, even in war the main difference is that the Stupid Party goes all in with Nation building included which makes us look like bullies whereas the Evil Party just dabbles enough to screw things up and make us look incompetent. They both love war nowadays. Everything else between the parties is just a matter of price and costs: taxes, health care, civil liberties, national security, the environment, etc.
