Mulugeta is an East African name but in the 1970s Idi Amin expelled some people of Indian/Pakistani origin from Uganda. Its possible they took local names?

True, but South African whites' names are Dutch, not Ethiopian. All I'm saying is that neither appears to have East-African parentage.
