"Yet liberals in the area couldn't understand why it was a bad idea. After all, as one local city government official said, to reject it was to reject "free money". You put your finger right on the problem. Near here we had a couple hundred thousand dollar bridge project that served two families. The County Commissioner justified it by saying if we didn't take the money someone else would. True, but how sad is that?
But, the California folks have reorganized and lowerd the price tag to "only" 66 B by squeezing out consultants. D*&^*d if I know how that works and how you lower the cost estimate by 34 B. Sounds like the OGOC (Orwellian Governor of California) is following the "investment" rules of the OPOTUS.
So let me get this straight. Ever since the beginning of this nation the black community and an increasing majority of other citizens have been trying to educate racists that skin color is indeed only skin deep. Then along comes a semi-black, totally unqualified presidential candidate and 96% of the black minority, give or take a few, vote for him. And they do it a second time knowing he is totally inept. Isn't it time for the black minority to hang up their racial identification and get with the program of improving America?
Love it! Second hand liberalism. Haven't heard that before but, boy, does it ever fit. Ask the folks now working part time or not at all because of Bummercare.

Couldn't leave this one alone. Beautiful analogy Kerwick. And the point that guns are to defend and feed as the end point rather than simply kill, which is part of the process but not the end point, shouldn't be missed. The fact that we have the greatest number of guns per 100K population but rank like 27th in gun related deaths per 100K shouldn't be dismissed.

So why does Obama need more than ten words in his state of the union speeches?

Assuming this is an honest question and not a "gotcha," no I am not passing up social security. I would, however, be more than happy to be compensated for the money I paid in that later ended up in the general fund. Unlike the current crop of faked disabilities and late comers, I financed every cent of return I am getting. To me, social security reform means ensuring you only take out what you put in, not what others have put in. Planning ahead is a key element of personal responsibility.

I assume you are talking to me but you don't know what "Reply" button is for. The problem isn't the elderly, "deadbeats," or "illegals." The problem is all of these and more. I address the elderly "problem" not simply because of the entitlements but because the entitlements are going to those classed by big brother as elderly when they simply aren't elderly, just as entitlements go to those in poverty when they aren't in poverty, to disabled who aren't disabled, unemployed who don't want to be employed, etc. It started with Wilson and has trickled up to this point through numerous liberal fools, including FDR, Johnson and the current loser. Recognizing and dealing with the world as it is simply isn't within their skill set.
It isn't the forecasters, they do the best they can with available information and knowledge. It's the news media that builds on any flimsy information that will make the news last 24/7.

What you are missing is that the government created and defined the elderly (please, "greedy geezer generation" is so shop worn). The solution is and always has been acceptance of personal responsibility. Don't fault those who planned ahead and don't make me pay for those who didn't.
