History Suggests That Entitlement Era Is Winding Down

OK - fact check- Social Security is NOT an entitlement program. I PAID into that sucker for over 50+ years with my input matched by my employer. I PAID into Medicare since it's inception. It is not an entitlement - I EARNED it. And if the government had kept it's greedy hands off it,it would still be working just fine. But old greedy guts just couldn't stand that money sitting around earning interest and being used by people who EARNED it so they raided it. Obama RAIDED Medicare to pay for his ridiculous and unsustainable Obamacare to the tune of over 700 BILLION. WELFARE and FOOD STAMPS are entitlements. People who receive welfare have never contributed a DIME to that program, they just suck up the benefits, same with MEDICAID.

I see it differently..since we PAID into the system we are therefore entitled to the "benefits" such as they are..complete privatization could have been accomplished by now, BUT nobody is "entitled" to one thin dime of another persons income or wealth and it is theft to take it. Welfare gets lumped in with things the rest of us paid into so as to make it appear that it's just one big program called entitlements when the FIRST thing that should be cut and I meant to the GD bone is is illegal because it is extortion. Poverty is an industry in this nation thanks to the dems and the recipients who have been taught we "owe" it to them. Sink ot swim folks, you're too heavy to carry any longer.

Simply put these welfare programs are merely our government investing in failure and seeing a healthy return on that investment.

I've had money TAKEN from me my entire working life as well to fund Social Security and Medicare - voted for by fools who feed at the trough the same way food stamps and welfare takers - and I wish they would get rid of them both. If a fool can't save for his own retirement then he already has a problem and as a health care see the BILLIONS WASTED on end of life care for the elderly is DISGUSTING! 3 months in ICU on someone who isn't going to make it anyway is just a sham. Make them comfortable, keep them clean and hydrated, and let nature take it's course.
It's often good fun and sometimes revealing to divide American history into distinct periods of uniform length. In working on my forthcoming book on American migrations, internal and immigrant, it occurred to me that you could do this using the American-sounding interval of 76 years, just a few years more than the Biblical lifespan of three score and 10.

It was 76 years from Washington's First Inaugural in 1789 to Lincoln's Second Inaugural in 1865. It was 76 years from the surrender at Appomattox Courthouse in 1865 to the attack at Pearl Harbor in 1941.

Going backward, it was 76 years...
