What really getting parents upset is when their children are verbally attacked for playing make believe by acts such as "Cops and Robbers," pretends they have an imaginary gun or by playing with their food in the lunch room pretending their food is gun like. Parents take the view my kid is being abused and then they call the School Board, the press or their lawyer or all three. Schools rules need to reflect the common sense facts that children like to play and such acts should not be declared as criminal acts.

In California, gun hysteria has reached such fanatical heights that teachers now feel empowered to confiscate student property, disregard their privacy, question their mental state and threaten police action – in front of other students.
