As far as the price that American's are paying for the wars we have fought, we could afford to easily fight these wars for centuries at the levels we are doing so. In fact, it is likely a benefit to our nation over all to have had these wars, to show how lacking our military base is. Hopefully, when we get good leadership in office, better than Bush (I personally hate Bush, but I did respect his choice to fight the battle in Iraq instead of Afghanistan), we will have an administration and congress that will enlarge our military base capabilities so that fighting wars at this level will be considered insignificant.
