He stands there like il Duce. He speaks at rallies in Germany exactly where Hitler spoke. His enemies are within. He has seen the enemy and it is --- all of us. He bows to dictators in Saudi Arabia. He accepts golden trinkets from dictators and awards for doing nothing. He snubs the Israeli Prime Minister for a state dinner with a puppet to denounce other Americans. He says there are too many Jews in Jerusalem for peace in the Middle East to exist. He derides the Israelis for defending themselves. He sends appeasers to North Korea and pretends to be shocked when they torpedo and sink an allied naval vessel in an act of war. He "engages" dictators in Iran as they build up a nuclear arsenal while he disarms the United States. ...

There sure is something different about President Obama. Usually, the State of the Union address is a laundry list of proposals spiced with sycophantic applause and dipped in an admixture of boredom and bravado. It is rarely a statement of basic philosophy.

Not for President Obama.

President Obama's State of the Union address was the greatest American rhetorical embrace of fascist trope since the days of Woodrow Wilson. I am not suggesting Obama is a Nazi; he isn't.
