The Catholic Church was forced out of the adoption business because it would not adopt children to same sex couples and that was ruled as discrimination.

"They chose to withdraw..."

Do it my way or else. I would call that 'force'. Even Dag can recognized government force. Why can't you?

LOL. No, I agree that the Federal government denied the Catholic church access to federal funds and federal databases of children available for adoption. They CHOSE to get out of the adoption business after that.

No, they were not "forced out." They chose to withdraw because they could no longer discriminate against gay married couples in Massachusetts. And in Illinois their withdrawal had NOTHIING to do with gay marriage, because Illinois is NOT a gay-marriage state.

It was the Vatican, not the state or the courts, that ordered the American church’s charitable agency to terminate its services rather than comply with longstanding anti-discrimination laws. They could have continued to serve with their own funds but chose not to. In Massachusetts and Illinois, government contracts that were held by Catholic Charities for its adoption services were awarded to other groups that were willing to comply with the law.

It appeared that the organization was only willing to do "charity" if the government paid for it.

Within the next few months, Justice Anthony Kennedy will likely rule that same-sex marriage is mandated by the Constitution of the United States. The ruling will offend both common sense and Constitutional law. But it will nonetheless become the law of the land. With it, states will be forced to recognize same-sex marriages; same-sex marriage will enter the public school lexicon; religious institutions will be forced to recognize same-sex marriages or lose their tax-exempt status. Religious Americans will be forced into violating their beliefs or facing legal consequences by the government. The First Amendment's guarantee of religious liberty will largely become...
