Newt vs. Newt

I voted for Newtie in the Oregon primaries, long after the race was over. I was only 7 years old during the Gingrich revolution in 94, but even as a small child I was always fascinated with politics, and I always had the utmost respect for him. If we were going to lose the election anyway, we should have at least sent our best soldier into battle - isn't that the point, anyway?

Yes that's the point! but unfortunately we in the Conservative movement have knuckleheads who prefer to lose the war and win a battle. Newt for all his misgivings as everyone so states would have put up a better fight in arguing for our cause then the two pretenders that ran as conservatives but no more progressive than Obozo. WE LOST BECAUSE OF STUPID PRIDE, and we are going to rue the day, because better things await us in the coming months. So all you defectors enjoy the damage you have done.

I wish everyone of your generation thought the way you do Eric. Actually, I wish everyone of my generation thought that way too. It is no wonder V7 (see below) and others find too little difference between the parties. The Republican establishment seems to think only a moderate can win. McCain's defeat didn't teach them anything and Romney's defeat probably hasn't either. Newt would have drawn the Republicans who sat out the election to the polls, and we would soon have him as President. Maybe next time.

This time I should’ve been the one listening.

But listening can be tough sometimes when you’re an analyst and a commentator, and people around the country – listeners, readers, media, candidates, causes, businesses, etc. – come to you to find out why things are happening and what may happen next. Analysis and commentary is one of the few things in life I’m really good at. My car expertise begins and ends with changing a tire. Any toy that comes with the phrase “some assembly required” my kids immediately take to my wife. And when that much-anticipated Zombie apocalypse finally happens...
