The evidence is in for every woman or man who has waited for marriage to engage in sex, that abstinence indeed works. That many or even most people don't live up to the ideal is no excuse to abandon it. It certainly is no help to any of us to soften the consequences of a freely-chosen act.

Recently, a group of women gathered to insist that expanded abortion access be a legislative priority in New York. Why they would feel the need to do so is a good question, one with disturbing overtones.
