Oh please spare me your whining. Marriage is no more a 'right' than is driving a car. It is a legal contract into which not all can enter (just as any other contract 'discriminates' against those who for good and plenty reasons may not enter therein)-and legal recognition of the fact that two people can live together without being married abounds in joint property rights, rental/lodging, commerce and travel, voting, and estate laws. When two men or two women can become the 'one flesh' that marriage (otherwise known as matrimony-precisely because marriage usually turns brides into mothers, not 'partners') entails; that 'one flesh' reality being manifest in the children borne of that union whether or not the two parties involved in creating that child are married, or not, or are simply sperm/ova donors. When you can tell me who in the two-man/two-woman relationship is husband/father or wife/mother to the children they claim to have a moral right to adopt, then and only then may you speak to me of legitimizing homosexual 'marriage'.
Born in '59 here, but I remember the 'protests' and the hippies. I fear our generation will have to pass before people finally come to their senses.

I'm not sure what happened to a post I'd made about two hours ago, but the poster 'Wanderer' (an apt name for a lost soul if ever there was one) asserted that immorality is going down. I say it is not declining so much as it is being much more widespread in its acceptance; 'it isn't really so bad'. Being a Christian I do understand that we live in a fallen world, and that people-including myself-will always be doing things they ought not be doing. That said, there's a difference between understanding how base human nature can be in its manifestation, and actively embracing or promoting or even legislating approval of the myriad ways this works itself out. One understands that there have always been and always will be single mothers who will fall for the line, then be deserted when a baby is on the way. We do nobody any favors by holding such a situation up as acceptable, even unto government forcing people to support kids who aren't theirs, when the studies have proven beyond doubt that two-parent, committed families are best for children. It is neither prudish nor old-fashioned to teach the young that sex is not merely an itch to be scratched, but is a powerful life-giving force that like fire, can be used for good or ill. It is simply acknowledging the reality of the drive which ensures our survival as a species. Want to have sex outside of a marital relationship? Fine. Use your head then, and don't expect me to pay for your contraception or the failure thereof-much less the dismemberment of the unborn baby you find you're pregnant with because you can't be bothered to accept the full consequence of the choice you made to hop into bed or to shack up with some idiot who never had any intention of committing to you, much less a child. One understands that homosexuality is in no way normal or healthy just because it exists, and gets that two people consenting to live together is acceptable insofar as the two parties involved don't make a Federal case out of it, using the power of the Government to force their neighbors to accept them as 'normal', much less 'married'. Homosexuality exists. So what? Live your life and leave the rest of us out of it. Live your life. Just don't ask me to approve of, much less financially support it.
Remember Robert G Munck? Ransom cleaned his clock and he hasn't been back since. Let's not forget Careful with that Axe, Eugene, although I think he's been here under other names.
Altogether too many of those ignorant citizens are on the government teat anyway. They're not about to vote against getting their goodies.
Kinda makes you wonder how the kids with their immature brains being put on ADHD and other psychotropic drugs today will vote when they're grown, doesn't it?

Not declining immorality, but widespread acceptance of it. As a Christian myself, I understand we live in a fallen world. That's the way it is, and nothing should surprise us when it comes to the infinite imaginations of those deemed unregenerate. They have been and will continue to be 'given over' to their desires, in the end reaping a whirlwind entirely of their own making and having nothing to do with my or anyone else's approval or disapproval. However, there's a huge difference between understanding that immorality of all kinds will always be with us, and actually promoting certain aspects of it to the point of legislating respect for it.
