is everybody missing the real big picture of the 2nd ammendment here? does everyone think that the 2nd ammendmend exist so that you can have a gun to go hunting or to protect your house from thugs? no. 2 exist so that the standing militia of the u.s.a. ( the populace ) can, if needed, overthrow the elected government, by force if required. (see u.s. constitution ) if the government takes guns out of the hand of the population then it is no longer a government of the people, but then can become a dictatorship. (hmmmmmm) sounding all too familiar.
If I were president, what would I do in the wake of the Dec. 14 Sandy Hook School shooting, which left 20 first-graders and six adults dead, if I wanted not only to advance an ambitious initiative to reduce gun violence but also to sign a law that actually worked?
To punctuate what is at stake, I might launch my effort, as President Barack Obama did Wednesday, in a ceremony with children who had written to me after the school shooting.
I also might invite children scarred by the daily urban shootings, which don't garner as much media...
