No true practicing Catholic could ever have voted for Obama knowing the platform of the Democratic party which supports and wants taxpayer funding for abortion, euthanasia and embryonic stem cell research.
I think this is a call to civil disobedience. No president, no legislature, and no judge, let alone an unelected burearat has the right to deny free exercise in this country. If Sebelius wants to take us on, by God in heaven, let her. We can, and we must fight back. Too much of what has happened and what is happening to the Catholic church is due to the spineless cowards who make up the clergy. Time for real Catholic "action".

I was at a mall yesterday. On the way back to my car I noticed a bunch of covered women sprawled out on the pavement and thought they must have dropped their keys, or something else. I was going to offer to help them. Only when I got closer did I realize they had spread out their prayer rugs in the parking lot and were bowing and prostrating themselves. Of course, none of the men with them were following their example.

Islam has got to be the most women-hating religion, among many, of which I have ever learned. Any intelligent, self-respecting woman who would voluntarily subject herself to this abasement and humiliation must be mentally ill.
Risks of certain diseases can be mitigated through diet and exercise but they are not entirely preventable. Using yourself as an example is anecdotal, not factual. Many illnesses are the result of genetic predispositions (cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stroke) and the idea that illness brought about by one's genetic make-up can be prevented is false.

This is why Obama's statement that we can "save money" through prevention is false. We cannot. Prevention will cost more and may not (due to genetic factors) decrease the occurence of illness.

I am not stating that we shouldn't take care of ourselves, but diet and exercise are only one part of the disease equation.
For anyone on the East coast, I'd put Wegmans up against Whole Foods any day of the week. Same organic produce, and the most beautiful produce I have ever seen, incredible meat and fish and a kosher deli, bigger wine dept. and my favorite imported cheeses and a seafood bar. Lower prices, and lots of NY hometown goodies (like Hoffmans). Yummy! I luv Wegmans. Did I mention the extensive chocolate selection? Mmmmmm, chocolate. Wegmans rocks the competition except for the parking and ingress/egress. Only one way in and out.
they're opinions. All due respect, I can appreciate that you would like more vacation - hey, who doesn't want more leisure time? However, the fact is that you have choices in life and work. If you don't want to experience high job stress, you can opt for a different job, or a different career. Typically those types of low stress jobs and careers do not command high salaries. Those are market principles, not opinions.

What you omitted from your point about 5 week mandatory vacations in Europe is the accompanying high rate of structural unemployment there. It is very difficult to get a job or change jobs in Europe. One reason is the burden that government places on business with regard to employment benefits.
We're at a tipping point, half the population expects government to "do something" everytime we experience normal and inevitable crisis. People don't save, they overspend, and they expect not to experience any pain or sacrifice. They're constantly told a lie: the U.S. is the most prosperous country and has a "moral" responsibility to ensure some arbitrary standard of living for all. What is omitted is that the way we became prosperous was by expecting all to provide for themselves. Of course Obama's rhetoric resonated with these people! His solution to every issue we face (except defense) is: government.

Then we have the other half of the electorate: people who work, save or start businesses and know better than to expect...
I disagree with posters who dismiss her ideas out of hand. She is right about the fiscal mess. Look at the staggering statistics about who is really paying the taxes? Doesn't that alone fly in the face of a democratic society? Democrats have repeatedly criticized Republicans about being the party of "no". Here is someone actually coming up with concrete ideas and solutions about reining in spending, stopping government growth and how to reform CA to ensure prosperity. At least Whitman is someone who has actually run a business - unlike the vast majority of politicians in this country. Her ideas carry far more weight and credibility because she understands a balance sheet.

I never realized how crazy CA system is (80...
I agree with Rush Limbaugh on this one. From what I see, Obama wants to be a dictator. Look at his response to the Honduran constitutional crisis. He is siding with a man who, though elected democratically, is being removed (through constitutional process established there) for trying to extraconstitutionally usurp another branch's authority. I believe Obama is a megalomaniac who sees everything he does as a means to an end. Unfortunately the end is establishing his unending power. We should never entrust anyone with power to "run" the country. This is the big problem with an overarching executive branch which has grown steadily over the past 40 years.

The president doesn't "run" the country, OK? When did everyone...
Used to be "SSI", right? Social Security Insurance. It's a cautionary tale for generations removed from the 30's and the heinous legacy of FDR. Most people never qualified for SSI, because it was intended to be a safety net for the poorest - not a retirement scheme for all. Well, now everyone thinks that magically they pay into a government program where some kind of account is established for them and somehow accrues interest. It does not work that way and we all know that. The joke is we jailed Bernie Madoff for stealing a paltry $60b. The government, through SS, is running a $53 trillion Ponzi scheme! Who is going to jail them?

Government doesn't invest your money. It forcibly takes your money to give to...
