Obama Revisionism

I recently talked to a man that was born in Germany before Hitler's rise to power and moved to the US in 1945.

I am a student of history and am amazed at Obama's rise to more power than I have seen in the USA in my 66 years. I asked this man if he saw any similarity between Hitler's rise to power and Obama's rise to power.

He said to me, "I'm surprized that you see that. Hitler had tremendous charizma and promised everything to everyone.".

It scares me!.
This is one of the most terrible and ridiculous things I have ever heard of. The principal should be horse whipped, fired and then horse whipped again.

Alice in Medical Care

What Kristen said about lawsuits is true but after working as a Registered Nurse in hospitals for 25 years, what I have seen is that only the threat of huge lawsuits is effective at keeping doctors, hospitals, and drug companies on the up and up.

Hospitals may be the worst of the bunch.

Good article Mr. Sowell. As someone who worked as a Registered Nurse in hospitals, I know that everything you said was true.

What has happened is that medical technology has increased to the point where we can no longer afford all of it.

Right now, we have the best medical system in the world because it is a private system. In general, the government has a history of screwing up everything it touches. Why would we want the government to run healthcare?

No matter what happens, the only way to reduce the cost of healthcare is to ration the care. That is already being done. If Obama is successful at turning our healthcare system into a government run system we will have so much health care rationing that people will be...

Abuse in Jails Maks Life a Prison

To Jimmy of NJ. You say that prisons should be terrible places so that people will be motivated to obey the law. There is some truth to that but not concerning rape or physical violence.

No man deserves to be raped by another man, no matter what. It is the worse thing that I can imagine. Also you forget an important issue. Not all people who are found guilty and sent to prison, are in fact, guilty!

For an innocent man to be deprived of his liberty and be put in prison is bad enough. For an innocent man to have to try to defend himself against rape or murder in prison is another thing entirely.

In order to have protection you have to join a prison gang and that gang may order you to murder someone in prison. For an...
