Uh, yes as a matter of fact the government already is heavily involved in education, water and transportation, and to a much lesser extent the arts and heck even food through farm subsidies. Has been for decades. Do you feel any less free because of that?

No one is talking about the state providing for all of our needs. That doesn't work, everyone knows that, including Obama. But you didn't address my main point, which is that as a country we are headed toward a model where fewer of us are going to be working for some major corporation where we get full benefits. And everyone needs healthcare because we happen to have laws that say that anyone can get treatment at a hospital...

President Barack Obama, his staff and administration, are all in danger of making the worst political mistake of their lives. They seem unable or unwilling to recognize the damage it will cause. And this reality may be America's brightest reason for genuine hope and change.

Since the beginning of the August recess the actual "rulers" in this nation have been given their chance to speak. In high school gyms, in church basements, and in community college auditoriums the first real chance for accountability has been measured against the most tone-deaf administration of my lifetime.
