Mercury light bulbs are my purchase, but, they are made in China, dangerous to the environment when broken or disposed of and a type of bully action by the neatly coined 'Greenstapo'.
Electricity, to run those cars, is generated by coal or oil and so there is a net loss in energy savings and non-pollution, because every change, from one form of energy, to another, has some inefficiency. That is why a light bulb heats up.

The commercial depicted uniformed officials arresting Americans for, among other offenses, asking for plastic bags at the grocery, throwing away batteries, failing to compost an orange peel and installing incandescent light bulbs.
