Thank you, Ms. Hagelin, for this valuable information. I've been searching for an alternative to the Girl Scouts but couldn't find anything in my area. My daughter is in Brownies at the moment, but I was not planning to let her continue to into the Girl Scouts after next year. She enjoys this program now, but I have to admit that all the selling of cookies and nuts to raise funds for this program does eat away at my conscience! There is an American Heritage Girls troops in a neighboring city that I will have her join next year!

"Allegedly" is a big part of this quote. I don't believe a thing jihadists say to slander our troops. I guess you do.

If people are truly concerned about the education their children are getting in public schools, they need to seriously consider homeschooling. I homeschool my kids, and we are having a blast. It will be much easier to take on this monumental committment yourself than to expect things to change in the public schools. Homeschooling is embracing freedom and is such a beautiful gift to your children. Instead of beating our heads against a brick wall, we should be encouraging a massive exodus from the public schools and back into the home.

The Conservative Solution: Do It Yourself

Alaina Wrote: Aug 04, 2010 1:05 PM
Mr. Medved, I fully agree with your advice and that "do it yourself" is a good, conserative idea, which is why I fully support the anti-illegal immigrant Arizona law that you did not support. Arizona decided to stop waiting for the federal government to do their job and "do it themselves." I was terribly disappointed to hear you attacking the law, which left me with an overwhelming sense of "impotence and powerlessness." Perhaps you would then support individuals who take it upon themselves to drive and deposit illegal immigrants across the border? It sounds to me as though your solution to this very serious problem is to wait for the feds to solve it. Yes, it is their job but what are we supposed to do when they won't do their...

Hollywood: Land of Libertarianism

It would be foolish for me to pay money to watch anything that makes me feel worse about who I am - a proud American wife, mother and child of God. Films with political agendas - or points of view, whatever you would like to call them - that aim to make me "think differently" about my chosen roles in life - whether liberal, libertarian, libertine, objectivist - are not worth my time. Wouldn't you agree? Hollywood does not need defending. They can take the criticism or ignore it. My bet is on the latter.

An Odd Silence on Gay Marriage

The most detrimental effect of same-sex marriage, in my opinion, will be the utter confusion of our children. What, in effect, are teachers giving their young, impressionable students when they introduce "Heather has Two Mommies" in class, which they are currently doing in MA? They are giving them a CHOICE. Give it about 10 years and we will soon learn that the homosexual lifestyle can indeed be a choice and not dictated by the "gay gene" as activists claim. Start by accounting for the number of people in MA who consider themselves gay now, and then again in 10 or so years. I will bet money the number grows because young people make decision based on what looks cool. Tie that in with ridiculous Hate Crime legislation that labels...

Gay Marriage Lost, But It's Not Losing

Sorry to be so cliche, but injecting sexual confusion into the minds of our children, which will be and currently is the side effect of the same-sex marriage movement in many states, is a CRIME. For those who believe same-sex marriage will have no negative effects on society, I just have to say, you aren't thinking clearly. This has nothing to do with hatred, but as a mother of a young child, it has everything to do with protection. Sexual confusion can have disastrous effects on a person, and my heart breaks for all those individuals who suffer from it. But as of now, a small minority of people suffer from sexual confusion. With same-sex marriage, we open the doors for ALL our children to suffer from it. Why isn't that considered...

Hilarious! You give me yet another reason why I have never and will never support UNCG with my alumni dollars. And as a Colorado native, I know the very dry, clean air will help eradicate all that anger you have about missing the transgender event. Besides, you can always catch the next one!
