My dad always told me, just because you can do something, doen't mean you should. Let's face it, AP did this just for the cash. Look at all the free publicity they are getting through the news, and various blogs across the world. We don't need to be reminded that war is ugly. I think though, sometimes not as ugly as the free press.
This one is for OncealwaysaMarine. If you continue to listen to that right wing nut case Hannity, your brain will(if it hasn't already) turn to mush. The man lies for his own benefit. Plain and simple. I gues you're one of the conspiracy cases, that believe President Obama isn't a US citizen too. Tell you what I heard. He gave his birth certificate to Elvis, who in turn gave it to the gunmen on the grassy...
Why did The Associated Press -- and newspapers across the country -- run the controversial and disturbing images of an American Marine dying in Afghanistan? The AP said it was "to make public an image that conveys the grimness of war and the sacrifice of young men and women fighting it."

It succeeded. Fortunately, we are not a nation of trembling children powerless to discern between news and exploitation. And it is, despite the anger surrounding the AP's decision, the job of the press to offer citizens a glimpse -- albeit slight, in this case -- of the war they cover....
