Our teenagers are more sexually active than any generation of youth before them. They also are consuming more pornography and compromising basic moral standards more often. It seems that many of them have lost not only their innocence, but their conscience, too.

The Death of Conscience
Boys usually were married by 18 or so as well. If you were in your mid-20s as a girl in the 1840s, you'd be thought as an old maid and damaged goods (something must be wrong with her).
So basically you were married soon after you were sexually mature, now girls are getting married for first marriage in their mid-20s and boys in their late-20s, so 10-15 years after the become sexually active (and this is the average meaning plenty of people waiting until their 30s for their first marriage).
