Abraham Lincoln was once asked how he liked being president. Bedeviled by secession and war, he recalled a story about a man who, when tarred, feathered and ridden out of town on a rail, commented that "if it was not for the honor of the thing, he would much rather walk." Chicago Wins by Losing
I agree that Obama shouldn't have made the pitch to the IOC. Very big downside if you lose and Chicago's bid was weak in the first place. But glad Chicago lost it in any event.
