10 Stories That Prove Guns Save Lives

Not long ago a local Colorado newspaper reported the following events: a homeowner who had just purchased a handgun for "home defense" was demonstrating its use to a neighbor. With dusk approaching, they repaired to the man's back yard and were startled, when a masked figure sprang at them from the shadows. The man leveled his weapon and fired several rounds, whereupon the intruder fell. When the man and his neighbor removed the mask, they discovered that the dead intruder was the man's seventeen year old son. No charges had been filed. Reports like this one appear ALL THE TIME in cities and towns around America. So what do they "prove"?

Incidents like that prove that when you behave toward family members as if you are an intruder, they deal with you like an intruder.

In other news, pretending you have WMDs to the international community means it deals with you as if you have WMDs.

that sounds like evolution in action. Darwinian selection.
being masked and springing out at night from behind concealment is a great way to get shot and killed.
Just HOW is any reasonable person supposed to tell it was their neighbor's kid "joking around",if that was really what it was? any cop would have shot the masked man too.

They prove that attacking people can cost you your life.

Put on a mask, jump out of the shadows in a threatening manner and you shouldn't be surprised to end up dead.

Act like a crook and you'll get treated like a crook. A failing grade in the school of hard knocks is more than just an F on a piece of paper.

If you story were true which I highly doubt it would prove sh&@$ happens.. Accidents of all sorts kill people every day it's always been that way & will always be that way. It's called life. I mean 25,000 people die annually from falling.
Lets put it in some perspective.
We are 9,000 times more likely to be accidentally killed by our doctor than a gun. Think about that! If you're afraid of accidental gun deaths you should be terrified of your doctor!
For kids under 10, approximately 1 child per 11,000 pools drowns to death..For guns the statistic is one accidental death per one million firearms! So it would seem pool control is in far greater need than gun control.

this shoots down your argument,if you can comprehend it;

"To ban guns because criminals use them is to tell the innocent and
law-abiding that their rights and liberties depend not on their own
conduct, but on the conduct of the guilty and the lawless, and that the
law will permit them to have only such rights and liberties as the
lawless will allow...
For society does not control crime, ever, by forcing the law-abiding to
accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of criminals.
Society controls crime by forcing the criminals to accommodate
themselves to the expected behavior of the law-abiding."

OK For the year 2010
Speticemia Infections 34,812 (tell your doctor to wash his hands!)
Accidental Drowning 3,782
Smoke / Fire exposure 2,782
Falls 26,009
"non transport" 82,898
poisoning 33,041
Drug induced 40,393
Alcohol 25,692
Accidental Shooting 606

Now, not to minimize those deaths. That's 606 lives. If you want to focus on it, how about realizing that most of those are still by illegally obtained firearms in urban environments. You hear about the scholarship winning kid of the heart surgeon being accidentally shot because it is so damn rare. Based on this logic we should ban alcohol and cars.

In a nation that already has more than 200 million guns, gun control does little other than make the work of rapists, robbers, murderers and nuts like Adam Lanza easier. When faced with gun control laws, the law abiding citizen has no choice other than to disarm or become an outlaw, but people with bad intentions are faced with no such moral dilemma. That's why the best friend of a rapist or a potential Adam Lanza is the gun control advocate who's working tirelessly to insure that his targets can't adequately defend themselves.
