How Liberals Argue: Food Stamps Stimulate the Economy

I found this disappointing... I thought I was going to see him make a counterargument that welfare doesn't stimulate the economy, but JJ didn't even try... just talked about socialism and whether government taxing is the same as stealing. Which, in a way, is OK--I'd be opposed to taxation and welfare beyond a certain point even if it did help the economy. But JJ missed some opportunities to point out that FDR's stimulus didn't actually work and his own Treasury secretary said so... or that if you take the dollar out of someone's savings it doesn't come from bank executives' mattresses but from money that would be used to invest elsewhere in the economy which would be stimulating... I think we have to do better.

Every Thursday morning I go on the Jon Justice show in Southern Arizona. Today, I made a comment about the glorification of food stamps and apparently that sparked a deluge of calls like the one below in which the caller argues welfare stimulates the economy.

Considering Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi thinks the same way, I'm not surprised.

"It's the biggest bang for the buck."
