Heh. Gen X here...and perhaps one of the ones you demolished in debate. I was a flaming liberal in high school, college and for several years thereafter. It wasn't until I was close to 30 that the OJ trial happened. That started the first stirrings of discontent. Events in the next few years had me listening to conservative radio jocks seriously for the first time. By 9/11 I had completed my switch, and was finally able to laugh at my earlier stupidity. But I don't trust the Rs any more than the Ds these days...they're two sides of the same coin. I may not even vote in the upcoming election for the first time in my adult life...I'm having a hard time deciding whether it would be better to try to save the system or just let it reset.
I understand your point. However, I hold the position that some concepts are not to be considered. Anybody who denies the holocaust can perhaps be forgiven if they were not personally there to see it with their own eyes and have a penchant for disregarding the reports of EVERYONE who WAS there...brief consideration could perhaps be given to their views before promptly tossing them in the circular file. The idea that an entire race of people, however, does not merit even the briefest of consideration or respect, or indeed even civility. They should be shown the door of any place where decent people congregate, never mind an institution whose mission is supposed to be higher learning.
