I've been a big supporter of Newt since the Republican revolution of 94. I've read several of his books, the most recent being "Real Change." A great book BTW.

I was surprised as anyone else that he chose to back a RINO in the NY congressional election. The only explanation I can think of is that it's part of his strategy to dispel the widely helpd perception among the public that he's a right-wing ideologue partisan zealot; a perception that's sure to doom any presidential aspirations.

This is something he needs to do if he has any chance of winning the nomination in 2012. Let's face it. Fair or unfair, he was pretty successfully demonized by the media and Clinton attack machine during the 90's.

Bob McDonnell’s campaign is looking spicy.

At a recent campaign stop at the Eden Center, a Vietnamese strip mall in Falls Church, Virginia, McDonnell visited no less than half a dozen Vietnamese restaurants famous for dishing up pho soup, noodle salad, and fried rice.

“I love the food,” he said.

He also loves the votes: an estimated 20,000 Vietnamese Americans reside in Virginia, most in the northern region from where McDonnell hails. They championed his support of Asian American concerns with small businesses, education, and safety.
