Bibleman, you're right....but if the libtard media did its job instead of carrying his water then he wouldn't appear to nearly as smart. But on the other hand, dems are always better at crafting messages that resonate more with the public than republicans. For example, repeating ad nauseum that the rich need to "pay their fair share," resonates, even though it's not true. Educated/informed people know better. Tea Party Republicans were sent to Congress to rein in big gov't, we see just how hard it's going to be. The payroll tax battle is a symptom of a much larger problem. The GOP wins on policy but loses on the politics, the very thing people say they're sick of...but are easily influenced by. We're in a lot of trouble.

Folks, this is also a textbook illustration of how Dems play the game, and how poorly the GOP does. Remember, the House passed a 12-month extension of the payroll tax cut....which I thought was Obama's main concern (being for the "middle class and all)......and sent it over to the Senate. The bill that was passed included an extention of unemployment benefits and well as an the Doc Fix What happened? The Senate punted (as usual), passed a ridiculous 2 month extension, and left town. Why? bc they were more interested in getting out of town for Christmas rather than dealing with how to pay for the tax cut. Nice. Dems1, the country 0. AGAIN.

Everyone knows (except kool aid-drinking liberals) that cutting payroll taxes is a bad idea. It makes no economic sense. Unfortunately it's a wonderful political football for Obama and Democrats. Obama knows cutting payroll taxes 2 per cent did nothing to boost the economy or create jobs. Let me repeat that. Cutting payroll taxes did nothing over the past year to create jobs, and Obama knows it. What it did do is put the SS Administration another 100 million dollars in the hole when it's already on the brink of bankruptcy. What it also proves is that once the gov't "gives" it up, it becomes a political nightmare to take it away. I support lower taxes but this isn't the way to do it.

Anonymous: One thing I think you should know about Bachman's presentation, since you brought it up and obviously were not impressed with the presentaion stagecraft. Maybe you missed it since the lamestream media of course would never cover it: I'm going on a limb here and assuming you're referring to the fact that Bachman wasn't looking directly into the camera. If you are, and certainly for anyone else who had a good laugh over this, you should know that she was looking into the right camera, the one provided by the tea party, which was sponsoring and recording her remarks. It was well known that none of the other networks except CNN decided to cover the event. But what viewers saw, and Bachman haters pounced on, was not Bachman...

And I'm saying that what she said was more factual (which even you concede) and more relevant than Obama's message was, as was Ryan's. I didn't say her presentation was flawless, or that she should be considered the next Ronald Reagan. I didn't even comment on her delivery. While the Lamestream media paid almost unanimous - even comical - homage to Obama's flat, uninspiring SOTU Address, they personally attacked Bachman even before she gave her response! It's beyond being a joke. Bottom line: doesn't matter what Bachman says or does, libtards will find a reason to trash her. A boring speech. Sounded a lot like last year's address. Same ol call for investments (spending) in education, infrastructure, energy. Lot's of platitudes we've all heard before. Few if any specifics. Surprisingly flat. More energy and enthusiasm in a geriatric clinic than in the House tonight. As a 30 year veteran who has served in the Middle East, I was particularly amused by Obama's bragging that our troops were coming home from Iraq with "heads held high." This, from the senator who refused to condemn moveon.org's "General Betrayus" ad in 2007, and , if given his way back then would have resulted in our troops coming home defeated and demoralized. Political speeches. Gotta love em.
