That (ahem) women is unfortunately one of those who feed into the stereotypes of women being vapid, vacuous, shallow, superficial, stupid, gullible, making any and all decisions based entirely on their emotions (or their vaginas, as you've said), only concerned about appearances and what's on the surface, and totally capable of throwing away our individual liberties in a replay of the old "For want of a shoe..." parable. Small wonder even some women have come to the conclusion that the 19th Amendment of 1920 was a catastrophic mistake. (So, as it has turned out, was the 26th Amendment of 1971 - but that's for another column.)
An article earlier this year in Politico speculated that this presidential election may be the first one ever to be decided by women. The Obama campaign understands this, and has trotted out a series of ditzy female celebrities to declare their support for Obama because he is for “women’s rights.” Eva Longoria, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Ashley Judd, Scarlett Johansson and others have come out publicly with statements within the past few weeks.
