How to Deny a Birthright

I agree with Harrison Bergeron's comment. The 14th Amendment could not be more simpler to understand. If not, read "The Congressional Globe", which has the complete Congressional debate. Do a search on The Congressional Globe, 39th Congress, 1st Session, pages 2890 - 2897 and read the entire debate as it was held back in 1866. You will notice illegal aliens are not included in the right of citizenship. Maybe if we just follow the constitution we would not have these problems. Under article 1, section 8 states, "The Congress shall have the Power to...provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the Union, suppress insurrection and repel INVASIONS." The illegal immigration, drug running, and human trafficking...

My State of the Union Address

Excellent SOTU address. If only congress would follow your advice we could save Billions. Bringing our troops out of Germany, Japan, Italy and the dozens of other countries we are currently stationed at and using them to protect our own borders instead of Syria’s, Afghanistan’s, and Pakistan’s will save this country Billions of dollars. It would also stem the influx of illegal immigration and the drug trafficking coming across our borders, while still providing our troops great training in recon and surveillance, capture and detention, and provide our troops a chance to remain with their families. The economic boost of having all these troops at home alone will boost the local economy. This will create more jobs in the service and...

A Birthright, and a Mess of Pottage

You state that "To deny birthright citizenship to the offspring of illegal immigrants, the opponents would have to do one of two things: persuade the Supreme Court to discard its longstanding interpretation or amend the Constitution. Neither is likely." You forgot one other option, under section 5 of the 14th amendment. That "Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of the article." In other words Congress through legislation can pass stricter rules.

Where to Cut Spending?

Excellent list. What is also needed is for the politicians to follow whatever they sign into law for the rest of us. Such as cut their pensions and have their medical plan equal to what everyone else is told to have. Maybe this will make them think twice before they decide what is good for us since they seem to think we are not smart enough to know better. Currently they are given a lifetime pension after only a few years in office. This needs to be removed. Their pensions should be the same as in the private sectors only after working for over twenty years or same as the private sector requirements. If they do not meet this requirement then they should not get a pension just like the rest of us. Politicians have a great...

The Truth About Anchor Babies

These web sites really break down the cost of anchor babies to this country. http://www.cis.org/print/birthright-citizenship http://www.fairus.org/site/PageServer?pagename=iic_immigrationissuecenters4608 http://www.theamericanresistance.com/issues/anchor_babies.html http://www.rense.com/general54/anchorbabiesborn.htm No need to change the constitution. Through congressional legislation alone this can be taken care of. All we need is to let congress know how we feel about this and have them pass legislation specifying that only legal residents can be granted birth right citizenship.

How to Solve the Immigration Mess

Here is a great article which supports Arizona Law SB 1070. http://mcauleysworld.wordpress.com/2010/07/09/the-immigration-debate-04232002-doj-memo-directly-contradicts-basis-of-obama-lawsuit-against-arizona/ It should also help every other state in adopting the law nationwide. Also, Rhode Island police force already work together with ICE and no one is banning this state.

How to Solve the Immigration Mess

"Comprehensive Immigration Reform" 1. Secure the borders. Create double fences. Make it even more difficult to get in. 2. Enforce current immigration laws. 3. Adopt AZ SB1070 law U.S. wide. This will help federal officers enforce the law. Cops can stop and ask for ID & immigration status see Muehler – vs – Men~a 2005 Supreme Court Ruling. 4. Enforce the federal E-Verify System. 5. Enforce current law against hiring illegal immigrants. Increase the fines to $5K for each illegal worker in a business, doubled on second offense, jail employers on third. 6. Enforce the law on repeat offenders who cross the borders and captured numerous times. The law calls for jail time on each subsequent time captured. Why isn’t the law...

What do you expect from this administration. First he holds a beer summit and now he has moved on to holding coffee summits. Maybe this is his way of spending money on the local economy.
