I would laugh, and probably applaud, if someone hit her with a baseball bat. It might shut her up. You can praise and admire her for her outspoken and courageous attitude, but she sounds and rationalizes like a hick with a GED. I, for one, would prefer a vastly more intelligent and experienced woman advocating for the political positions she espouses. We need smart people in government that actually want to be there for the people (and not just rich people), not yet another politician who is great at soundbites and criticizing everything liberal. If there's substance worth noting with and in Sarah Palin, someone please help me see it.
I find this article's central question and thesis absurd. As a feminist, humanitarian, and thinking person, I find both Palin and "Sharia law" EQUALLY appalling and worthy of scorn. In rhetoric, that's called an "either/or dilemma." There's no reason we have to support one instead of the other. That means a lot of people might & can dislike them both with equal fervor. But since in this country we don't need to confront the absurdities of Sharia law, we can and should focus on absurdities closer to home. Thankfully, as a start we have laws that attempt to protect women from abuse--objections to Sharia law are self-evident and there's no danger we'll be adopting Sharia in the future despite Mr. Giles warning about what happened in the...
