Archimedes at 5:42, rather ironic to use the term "force". It was Lincoln and then the 39th Congress who forced the Southern states to accept desired actions. No one can force another to accept one's terms by threatening to leave a Union. Rather the remaining parties would then have less or no opposition to their desired legislation. It should also be considered that if the Union is actually beneficial and to the happiness of the states, why would they leave? Your scenario is unlikely, and other than those wanting more power over others, I am unaware of it happening in history.
