What is wrong with packing your OWN LUNCH?? Who is too poor to afford a loaf of bread and some peanut butter and jelly? Or some tuna fish? Or lunch meat & cheese? Food stamps will buy that! We've done that all our kids' lives, poor or not. I don't personally care what kind of garbage the school cafeteria is serving, because we don't bother to eat it. Are people really so dependent that they can't either make their kids' lunch (if they're still small) or teach their children to make their own lunch? Get a grip!

When is the last time you tried to send peanut butter to a school? The kid with nut allergies sits... wherever he wants. Kids with peanut butter sandwiches are not allowed to eat with other kids and must sit off in a corner. I guess that's so the kids with allergies doesn't feel cast out. I'm sure when he goes to work some day his employer will make sure no one eats peanut butter near where he wants to sit too.

Any other analogy might have worked but because kids with peanut allergies cannot be made to feel aware of or even think about their allergy peanut butter is all but banned at school.

Typical case of not having to responsible for your own needs, everyone else will do it for you.

...thanks to our government again, so many people qualify for free or reduced lunches! This is why our government feels they can control what we put in their mouths. They are paying for it! Its all a trap. But "they'll" vote him in again!

I pack my own lunch for work every day, but I also have a microwave I can use to heat it up. A hot lunch is nice. Just saying.

There have been cases where the schools confiscated lunches brought from home...Why are we paying to feed other peoples children in the first place? Is mommy too lazy to make breakfast and bag a lunch? Apparently so.

My sister is a grammar school special ed. teacher. One day she didn't have time in the morning to pack her lunch, so she ate the cafeteria meal with her kids. When she pulled out her wallet to pay, several of the kids couldn't understand what she was doing. THESE KIDS HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE PAY FOR LUNCH BEFORE.

In their minds, food was free and they couldn't understand the concept of paying for your meal. This is what we are raising in this country - people who think things are free because you show up to get them....
In Wisconsin, high school athletes are complaining about not getting enough to eat each day, due to the skimpy new school lunch menu mandated by the United States Department of Agriculture and First Lady Michelle Obama.

The story we published earlier this week on that subject is unfortunately not unique. Students across the country are complaining about the new school lunch regulations.

Perhaps the real motive is to starve students into slimming down. Just ask students in Pierre, South Dakota who, too, are in an all-out revolt.
