With the discussion last week devolving into interagency finger-pointing, lost was the simple fact that the failures were systemic. Although the military has done valiant work fighting in Muslim lands, it doesn’t seem to grasp how to assess when Muslim personnel could pose an internal threat.

The real difference is that in Islam the ONLY way you can get a guarantee of Paradise is to die in jihad while killing your enemies. So any really true believer who is uncertain about his status can blow himself up and go to heaven IF some imam declares jihad. That's one of the main reasons that they can always get more people to volunteer as suicide bombers all the time. So every time an imam gets angry at someone, he is certain to get any number of volunteers simply by delaring a jihad.
