When I learned that my Representative, Sue Myrick, would hold a health-care town hall meeting at our local high school, I decided to attend to see firsthand how much of the passion against socialized medicine was the result of real grass roots or just “Astroturf” (as Nancy Pelosi put it). Sue is a strong conservative who came to office as part of the 1994 Republican revolution. Since she’s against the current house bill (HR 3200), I didn’t think all that many would turnout. As for Dad, I'm certain he did know he had an issue, as you say. However, if the government doesn't want to face that issue, you are out of luck - just as he was. Why do you think a colonoscopy was requested in the first place? It certainly wasn't due to preventive medicine! He had a problem and the doctor susppected cancer. The only problem was that the government placed him on a waiting list that prevented the doctor from verifying it and knowing what to do until it was too late.
